Prof. Michela Guglieri
CLINICAL RESEARCH STRAND LEAD
PROFESSOR OF NEUROMUSCULAR DISORDERS
HONORARY CONSULTANT IN CLINICAL GENETICS
Professor Guglieri is a Senior Clinical Lecturer and Neuromuscular Consultant at Newcastle University.
She leads the clinical research team which is currently involved in over 30 studies over the past 5 years.
Dr. Pietro Riguzzi
CLINICAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE
Dr Riguzzi is a neurologist and PhD student in Clinical and Translational Neurosciences at the University of Padova. He has recently joined the muscle team at the John Walton Muscle Dystrophy Research Centre as a PhD fellow and Clinical Research Associate. He is deeply interested in dystrophinopathies and aims to make significant contributions to this field.
Abby Scott
Project MANAGER
Abby joined the John Walton Muscular Dystrophy Research Centre in April 2024 as BMD Hub Project Manager.
She has worked at Newcastle University since 2017 in varying roles, most recently as Assistant Project Manager across multiple clinical research projects within the Faculty of Medical Sciences.
Jessica Elliot
Project assistant
Jess Elliott has recently joined the John Walton Muscular Dystrophy Research Centre as a Project Assistant for the BMD and DMD Hubs.
She graduated from the University of York with an undergraduate degree in English Literature and prior to joining the team had a background in administrative work in the NHS.
